Munich
Münchner Kammerspiele

Intimate and delicate This building, dreamt up by the son of a spirits producer and designed by architect Max Littmann, has been home to the Intimate Theatre (Kammerspiele) company since 1926.

Its façade in neo-Gothic style contrasts with the discreet interior and floral motifs designed by Richard Riemerschmid, a three-dimensional art nouveau masterpiece. The layout as an intimate theatre is perfectly suited for small-scale plays. But the architect was also capable of designing a huge festival theatre like the Prinzregententheater, just a few streets away.
